Gingerbread Fun

In December, we had some fun with the classic story, The Gingerbread Boy!  We read multiple versions and twist on the classic tale and compared them to each other based on the characters, repeated phrase, and the ending.  Here is what we read:

After reading lots and lots, we decided to add our own twist to the story.  We used our creative minds to develop a new character for the gingerbread boy or girl to run away from and we wrote about it.  We have been working on learning the words he and she, so it was the perfect opportunity for the girls to write about the gingerbread girl and the boys to write about the gingerbread boy!  Take a look:
"She ran away from a polar bear."

"She ran away from Santa and the elf."

"He ran away from a gorilla."

"He ran away from an angry mob on the sidewalk."

We also did some fun gingerbread math activities!

Roll a Gingerbread Man!
With a partners, our Ks took turn rolling a die.  Based on what was rolled, they then used the direction sheet to the part of the gingerbread indicated.  They had fun!

After we decorated our cookies (see below), we took one bite and looked at our cookie to figure out which part we ate first!  Here are our results!  As always, we talked about the most, least, and number of each one.

COOKIES!!!!!!

They all look like they are concentrating so hard! :)  The cookies came out great!  Thank you again to everyone who made something or donated to make this fun activity possible!
