Happy Snow Day!

With our snow day today & no school tomorrow (for teacher's professional development), it makes for a short week!
Remember, our LAST NWEA test is this Wednesday at 10:30 AM.

As for our music field trip that was scheduled today, unfortunately there will be no rescheduling.  All money will be returned to you.  Thank you!

Here are some things we have been up to!
In math last week, we introduced a new important counting skill:  counting by 5s to 100!  This grouping concept helps develop a sense of larger numbers.

With this also comes Tally Marks!
We read a fun math story:

And tallied the boys and girls in our classroom:
The most difficult part of tallies for Ks is remembering to make the fifth one across 4 tallies, to make the group.  This is a great skill to practice at home - then count them up by counting by 5s!

In January, we also started a buddy mentoring program with Mrs. Tabaka's Third Grade Class!  Throughout the school year, we will do various projects with our buddies.
Here are some shots of reading with our buddies.  We read to them and they read to us!
